Rachel B. Middle School offers free afterschool enrichment classes and tutoring through the Noel Beacon Neighborhood Center. A program of Catholic Charities, Beacons is a nationally recognized and evidence-based model that provides high quality out-of-school programming for youth, parent engagement and family support services.
Extended learning opportunities are available for all students Monday through Friday. A late bus is available for students Monday through Thursday and leaves at 4:45 p.m.
Enrichment Classes – Currently, all Rachel B. Noel students have the opportunity to participate in the following FREE enrichment classes: Art, Ball Aerobics, Band, Book Club, Cheerleading, Chess Club, Cooking, Creative Writing, Dance, ELA Club, KidsTek, Math Club, Orchestra, PACT Team, Photography, Piano, Science, Semantics Club, Shakespeare Club, Sports, Social Responsibility Training, Step Team, Theatre, Tutoring and Yearbook. Tutoring – Free tutoring is available before and after school by Rachel B. Noel certified teachers. Tutoring is offered through Beacons and Club Z. Students meet with their tutoring group two days a week after school from either 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. or 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. During the tutoring sessions, teachers work with students on reading, writing, math and any other subject area that is challenging for the student.
